Regional WASH programme to deliver universal WASH services to over 500,000 people by 2030.

The Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (AhRCC) in collaboration with IRC and partners is rolling out a regional water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programme to deliver universal WASH services to over 500,000 people in the region by 2030.

Providing the background to the initiative, Vida Duti, IRC Ghana Country Director recalled that IRC worked with Asutifi North District Assembly, in collaboration with other partners, to prepare and implement a 13-year (WASH) Master Plan (2017-2030) under the Asutifi North Ahonidie Mpontuo (ANAM) initiative.

"Following the success of the local authority-led partnership and innovations of the district-based approach to universal WASH services in Asutifi North District, IRC with the support of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation expanded to three new districts in the Ahafo Region – leading to the development of three additional WASH Master Plans. These plans are being integrated into a Regional WASH programme – a unique programme to be coordinated by the AhRCC."

In this video, stakeholders from the AhRCC, municipal and district assemblies, traditional authorities and development partners share their perspectives on the collaborative roll-out with a call for more support to accelerate progress towards universal WASH services in the region.
