Abstract

This is an assessment conducted to analyse the performance of the learning alliances that have been in existence in the districts/woredas of NegelleArsi and Shashamane since their inception in 2020.

The learning alliances in the two woredas bring together relevant WASH stakeholders from government WASH sector offices at the woreda and zone levels, development partners, user communities, and other organizations/individuals that contribute directly or indirectly to the achievement of SDG 6 targets.

According to the assessment findings, the learning alliances met nine times, developed a good awareness of the relevance of learning alliances in increasing the coordination of WASH actors and promoted the development of integrated WASH master plans.

However, there are also challenges to overcome such as: weak follow-up, limited participation of office heads, high turnover of staff. The paper lists a number of recommendations to overcome these challenges.
