Abstract

While advocating for improved investment in WASH, this briefing document digs deep into the roles that African Finance Ministers can play to improve citizens' access to WASH. It further highlights the power they have to support fellow Ministers responsible for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene to make this access a reality to attain the Sustainable Development Goal 6. It includes messages describing how WASH investments benefit health, education and social development as well on their return of investment and an overview of African commitments to WASH. The brief concludes by highlighting what African governments need to do to accelerate progress, what it will cost to reach the targets, and where will the funds will come from.
