COVID-19 has disproportionately affected women. Several studies have documented how women have been hit worst by the pandemic, the induced economic slowdown, and the heightened responsibilities of unpaid care work especially with respect to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). At the same time, however, women have shown great strength and leadership in managing the uncertainties and challenges unleashed by this crisis.
Celebrating the 2021 International Women’s Day theme - #ChooseToChallenge – IRC, Water For People, WaterAid and the SuSanA India Chapter are collecting stories of women’s perseverance and initiative during the pandemic, particularly in the field of water, sanitation, and hygiene services. Send us stories of woman/ women champion(s), who have shown ingenuity in management of WASH services, during this pandemic.
Share your stories in writing (within 200 words), audio (3 minutes) or video (3 minutes, with footage of the champion/s) highlighting the following details:
Please make sure to mention the name and location of the champion(s) or group. We will shortlist a few of the stories to be shared in an online discussion on 22nd March (World Water Day).
