| Abstract | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), IRC, and the District Health Office (DHO) conducted a baseline assessment of Kabarole District health centers in August and September 2018. At each assessed health centre, CDC and partners conducted in-depth quantitative assessments, source and stored water testing for free and total chlorine residuals and E. coli contamination; knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) surveys of health providers and cleaning staff; focus group discussions or key informant interviews with health providers, cleaning staff, and patients; and observations of clinical staff hand hygiene practices. The baseline assessment took place in 40 health centres in Kabarole District, Uganda, including all 30 public health centres and 10 private health centres. The report gives recommendations on what needs to done to achieve the goal of "full coverage" for water, sanitation, hygiene, and waste management infrastructure in the district's healthcare facilities. |
