Dignified city award

The Sanitation Challenge for Ghana contest is in the final stage and the grand award ceremony slated for 24th July 2019 in Accra. The initiative was launched on 19 November 2015 to stimulate competition among Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and to encourage inclusive partnership for the design and implementation of liquid waste management strategies to bring transformational changes to city-wide sanitation service delivery.

This final award event to reward excellence in liquid waste management will bring together government ministries, departments and agencies, competing MMDAs and private sector partners, development partners, sector practitioners, the media and representatives of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government to:

1.    Recognise and appreciate successful MMDAs and private partners who contested in the Sanitation Challenge for Ghana and urge them to continue implementation beyond the event.

2.    Showcase the achievements of the MMDAs and private partners in the management of urban liquid waste using innovative technologies, partnerships and financing models.

The Sanitation challenge for Ghana runs from November 2015 to July 2019 under the auspices of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources with funding from the UK AID. IRC Ghana is the national implementing agent acting on behalf of IMC Worldwide with technical support from MAPLE Consult (Ghana).
