Abstract

Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in schools has a significant impact on the overall health and well-being of children. This briefing note is a synthesis of an expert panel discussion on WASH in schools in Rajasthan, which took place in Jaipur, India, on 10 October 2018. Indian Sanitation Coalition, IRC, and TARU Leading Edge in association with Finish Society organised the dialogue as part of the Insights series. The discussion explored the change in sanitation behaviour in Rajasthan through education and the influence of the Swachh Bharat Mission(SBM), India's flagship sanitation programme. The panellists emphasised the importance of building the capacities of students as change agents, teachers and school management committees (SMCs).
