Melinda Gates in Burkina Faso with First Lady, Sika Bella Kaboré and guests. Juste Nansi is the first person on the right.

IRC Burkina Faso's country director, Juste Nansi was invited by Sika Bella Kaboré, First Lady of Burkina Faso to participate in a dinner meeting with Melinda Gates. During the dinner common efforts of the Gates Foundation and IRC on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects in the country were discussed.

Many organisations in this area know that there is no way to properly address poverty issues without considering WASH. So Juste Nansi was honoured to receive an official acknowledgment from Melinda Gates after the dinner, in which she expressed her appreciation of IRC's work and thanked him for his personal commitment to improving WASH in Burkina Faso.

Since IRC is turning 50 this year, we are glad to look back on the importance of collaboration and are thankful for the support, dedication and acknowledgement we have received from different partners around the world. Many of IRC's global achievements over the past 10 years were supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, such as the WASHCost project on life-cycle costing and the Triple-S project on new models for sustainable rural water services. We are glad to know that IRC's work on solving WASH issues in Burkina Faso is being noted and appreciated.
