Abstract

This issue brief argues the case that projects that integrate water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH interventions, climate resilience and fresh water conservation are more efficient and sustainable. It examines barriers to and opportunities for project integration with a specific focus on those funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In particular the development and use of indicators that encourage integration are stressed. Examples of successful integrated USAID projects are provided.
