Abstract

This document sets out a framework for hygiene promotion and behaviour change in the countries where WaterAid works. It is based on the current literature on hygiene promotion and draws on our experience in South Asia, the Pacific region and Africa. It builds on and supersedes WaterAid’s Hygiene promotion policy (1999), providing guidance for our country programmes, setting out key principles and minimum commitments for our work on hygiene. It is also intended to inform and assist other organisations that work on hygiene in the context of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes. [authors abstract]
