For aid-dependent sectors like the WASH sector, aid effectiveness poses great opportunities to ensure more effective use of all available resources in the sector towards universal and sustainable WASH services.

To stimulate debate in the WASH sector around Aid Effectiveness IRC’s International Water and Sanitation Centre thematic group on Aid Effectiveness decided to start a blog to capture new perspectives and initiatives.
To present the latest thinking on aid effectiveness in the water and sanitation sector IRC also published a Thematic Overview Paper in December of 2011. It reviews the implementation of Aid Effectiveness and provides insights into how the aid effectiveness agenda may be redefined to better suit the needs of countries. The Thematic Overview Paper is a living document as the debate around how to make aid more effective is continuously evolving.
