Abstract

The film is about the enormous challenge that Colombia is facing in extending and improving its water supply system in order to provide an equitable service to its population. To face this challenge a working group was established. This group participated in several programmes to gain experience. A project in which they participated was oriented towards promoting the use of computer programmes in water supply and drainage. They also searched for low-cost and reliable water treatment systems. A significant technology was slow sand filtration. Another area of interest was the process of community involvement in the projects and the transfer of knowledge and information to the beneficiaries.
