Abstract

This is the World Bank's third country study focusing on women in development. Background information is given about the situation of women in Bangladesh, with an analysis of women's participation in the labour force, and an examination of government strategies to incorporate women into national policy and programme planning. The implications for women's development in 5 major sectors are discussed: education and technical training, water supply and sanitation, productive resources in agriculture, industry, and credit.
