Abstract

This book presents 32 examples of appropriate water supply and sanitation technologies for rural and peri-urban areas. The technologies covered include: water storage, latrines, well construction, spring protection, soap making, stabilization ponds, septic tanks and sewerage, water analysis, slow sand filtration, and water distribution. The technical briefs, which were originally published in the journal Waterlines, are written in a non-technical form. Each highly illustrated four-page brief concludes with one or more references for further reading.
