The survey complements the tools landscaping exercise currently underway. Triple-S recently completed the first phase - an initial mapping of ‘sustainability checks’ used by donors and NGOs to monitor sustainability of their WASH programmes. Now it is embarking on a broader exercise to identify tools used by a variety of actors to support aspects of sustainability, for example asset management, cost analysis, institutional capacity.
Results from the landscaping exercise and survey will help Triple-S promote existing tools, identify gaps and areas of high demand, and, ultimately, develop new tools to meet the needs of organisations seeking to create water and sanitation services that last.
